| Do you have a product for lower teeth?
No. You can't safely use a product like this on your lower teeth, because bottom teeth fit up within your upper teeth, and if you make your lower teeth thicker than they are, you would not be able to close your bite or speak properly. Habitual wearing could cause your upper teeth to splay out.
How are they made?
Imako® is made of FDA approved flexible elastomer (rubber and plastic) in front and low-melt non-toxic fitting plastic behind. The fitting plastic is like taffy when melted in hot water and you can form an imprint of your teeth in it. At body temperature, it is very strong and stiff.
How do they fit?
To customize the fit to your mouth, you submerge the device in hot water to soften the inner plastic layer. After you position Imako in the mouth, that layer hardens to make a custom imprint of your teeth and gum surfaces. The plastic fitting surface may be melted anytime to adjust the fit. In a course of dental treatment, Imako can serve as a money saving alternative to temporary crowns or to hide unsightly implant screws.
Is Imako® Comfortable?
Because no material goes across your chewing surfaces or into your tongue cavity, you can speak normally, drink and smoke while wearing Imako. Many people experience nausea from partial plates. You will never experience nausea wearing Imako. After you become accustomed you will hardly feel the device in your mouth. You are in control of the fit, and can change it anytime needed.
Can anybody wear Imako Cosmetic Teeth®?
No. Not safe over braces. Not recommended for protruding (buck) teeth or a cross bite (lower teeth out in front of uppers). Not for use when all or most teeth are missing. If you have cavities that are untreated, on the outside surfaces or between your teeth, you should not use this product and you should seek professional treatment. In cases where a partial plate has an exposed wire on the outside surface of your teeth, the Imako fitting material may become attached to that wire, so the device should be fitted without the partial.
What are the drawbacks?
This product is nowhere near as perfect as what God makes, and it will never last, function or look as well as professional dental work. The wearer must avoid hot food and liquids while wearing the device, and care must be exercised to prevent accidental melting of the fitting plastic (usually in cars or clothes dryers). The front part is susceptible to stains. We recommend you always rinse your mouth with water after drinking dark colas, coffee or tea.
What about cleaning?
Wipe with rubbing alcohol daily and soak overnight in Polident Overnight Whitening® solution every week. Rinse thoroughly before wearing. Do not brush front surface.
Is Imako Safe?
It is perfectly safe for natural teeth, and even bondings, crowns, and temporary crowns.
